STUDIO BRIEF 2 - It's Up To You

Brief

Design, develop and produce an information pack that effectively communicates or promotes you as an individual, designer and learner. You will need to reflect on the first year of the programe and aim to communicate what you have learned, the skills you have developed and how you see yourself applying them in the future. You should  also aim to communicate the context of your interest by referencing specific designers, studios, principles and audiences where necessary.
You should use this brief as an opportunity to explore, develop and demonstrate content, processes and areas of design that interest you at this point in time and may indicate your emerging creative concerns in Graphic Design.

Who am i now?

There has been many factors which have effected the way i am and how i may have changed over the first part of this course. I am now a lot more independent which has come from living away from home and realising that the dishes, my washing and taking the bins out cant just be left and has to be carried out by ME. Also being left to make my own design decisions has forced me into being independent and setting my own deadlines. I also feel i am more confident than i was at the start, this has been developed again by living away from home but also mainly because of being able to talk about my own work and speaking in front of groups of people.

What have i learned?

I have learned a number of things since being at uni, how to cook, clean and wash. I have also learned many different techniques when it comes to skills, such as creating drawing on illustrator, editing photos on photoshop and layouts on indesign. These have all aided me as a designer and improved me as a designer.

What skills do i have?

The skills i have gained are layout and composition, this has been enhanced through the use of indesign. One thing that shows this was the animal brief where i created a layout for a Lemur, it was my first introduction to using grids and applying them to something, and i found it extremely interesting how a page is formed, it is then clear to also see in magazines what grids they use

I really like this idea of having stacking cards, the cards would form a structure that would then form me, with each card having a different aspect about me on it.

Initial sticker designs

These were my initial designs to get stickers and then put them on mount board and cut them out. But i decided that i didn't like the orange and the type on the reverse side wasn't central which i also didn't like.

SO instead of doing stickers i decided it would be best to laser cut my cards.

FINISHED PRODUCT

The stacking cards. The idea behind these cards was to have a very simple packaging that when opened and the cards were formed a structure which is made, that structure then encapsulates me.
