Communication is a virus, first crit

For this crit we took in all of design sheets and spider diagrams to show what work we had done and what we were planning on doing. 

Our idea:

Our idea was to create a new brand of tea and everything that comes along with it, so the tea bag, the tea bag packaging, the tea bag tag, the tea cup (plastic cup) and the sleeve for the tea cup.  We want to aim it at students because at the moment there isn't many places that are directly aimed at students and just for tea, there is however a lot of coffee places, so we were also thinking to try and rival coffee.

To communicate it we have planned to make a viral video that will contain our logo and contact details, pointing people in the direction of our tea. We also are going to set up a facebook and twitter page so people can give feedback on our product.



Feedback: 

We were given good feedback on our idea, Amber and Simon thought that our ideas were strong especially if were to actually produce our own tea, this would then give us a platform for a strong idea that can be communicated well. Ideas that were suggested to us were that we could produce something interesting and different that would get people talking, such as a cup that had a sleeve that removed and revealed something, or a strange shape cup. Also to communicate our brand by handing out tea in the city center, this would then get our product into the open world and people may look at a cup somebody is holding i think, i want that and then look at our logo and research our brand ect. Other things that could be manipulated to get people talking could be the sleeve, where maybe it gets torn up is a puzzle or a maze to free tea, also the tag, where it could be a token? The box could also work as a set so collecting all the different flavors of tea would then form a picture. 



 After this crit we then went away with a blank brief and we wrote our own project.  


OUR BRIEF 

Produce a new existing brand of tea
The brand must adhere to a younger audience. 
The brand of tea must be communicated in every way possible i.e social networking sites, first hand communication, handing out the tea. 
The tea must consider current trends of communication that help advertise the product, this will help to our benefit and draw in more customers. 
Produce a viral video that attracts people to our tea brand and helps communicate what we first set out to do. 


BACKGROUND/CONSIDERATION   

Make sure to produce designs correlated to tea, i.e tea bags, tea cups, fliers, packaging. 
What do you want to say and how do you want to say it? What language would be appropriate? 
How can you communicate tea as a new interesting brand/product when it already has so many ago old connotations attached to it?
