Group work

Creating our brand

We then went through a list of names we had created and decided upon one, this name was Stvdio, which is simple, we are a studio of 5 people, the 'V' representing 5.

After deciding on a name we then created some points we felt we should get across as a brand as a whole.

1. Outline the vision you have for your business by answering these questions: What are you creating?
What will your business look like in one year, three years, and five years?

2. What is your mission? Why are you starting this business, and what is the purpose?

3. List your overall objectives by outlining your most important business goals, and answering: Are your
business goals considered SMART goals? How will you measure success?

4. Write down your business strategies by answering these questions: How are you going to build your
business? What will you sell? What is your unique selling proposition (i.e., what makes your business
different from the competition)?

5. What is the total startup capital you think you may need to launch your business?

6. What do you estimate your business's ongoing monthly expenses will be immediately after launch,
in three months, in six months?

7. What do you anticipate your business's ongoing monthly income will be immediately after launch, in
three months, in six months, and in one year?

8. Create an action plan by answering: What are the specific action items and tasks you need to complete
now? What could be your future milestones? What will need to be accomplished by those milestones in
order to meet your objectives?

Types of Deign Jobs

Creative director

A creative director is a vital role in all of the arts and entertainment industries. In another sense, they can be seen as another element in any product development process. The creative director may also assume the roles of an art director, copywriter, or lead designer. The responsibilities of a creative director include leading the communication design, interactive design, and concept forward in any work assigned. For example, this responsibility is often seen in industries related to advertisement.
Art director

Various artists may create or develop specific parts of an art piece or scene; but it is the charge of a sole art director to supervise and unify the vision. In particular, the art director is in charge of the overall visual appearance and how it communicates visually, stimulates moods, contrasts features, and psychologically appeals to a target audience. The art director makes decisions about visual elements used, what artistic style to use, and when to use motion.

One of the most difficult problems that art directors face is to translate desired moods, messages, concepts, and underdeveloped ideas into imagery. During the brainstorming process, art directors, co-workers, and clients are engaged in imagining what the finished piece or scene might look like. At times, an art director is ultimately responsible for solidifying the vision of the collective imagination while resolving conflicting agenda and inconsistencies between the various individual inputs.

I was unsure of the difference between the two of these so i then research into what that difference was.

Creative Director's Key Role

The creative director typically thinks through the early phase of the project to develop the concept. This director oversees the entire team, which includes the copy chief, photographer and art director. Many creative directors ultimately work their way up through the ranks to become partner or CEO. The creative director generally has the final say on what gets delivered to the client. This vital position nurtures the studio or agency's talent and also steers its design philosophy.

Art Director Key Role

An art director executes a strategy, concept or idea provided by the creative director. After the concept has been created, the art director is generally responsible for the stylistic look of the ad or design. He brainstorms with workers and provides direction and inspiration to the staff, which includes the graphic designer, sketch artists or typesetters. The art director helps maintain brand consistency. He oversees the project through the production department and other phases, including prepress and printing. The art director may have the final approval for delivery of the project if there is no creative director.

Are they more or less interchangeable?

Art Directors at bigger studios or corporations often oversee just a particular segment of design or at least different teams. So you might have an art director for interactive design and another for package design. The Creative Director would oversee all these.

Another answer i found

Usually an Art director will work or lead other creatives (illustrators, photographers, designers, writers) to execute a concept or idea. Creative Directors are typically the person that sets the vision, & strategy for a brand, campaign or line. If you have both in a (big) company I think a Creative director can boss around multiple art directors

The Difference Between an LLC & a Partnership

by Christopher Carter, Demand Media
A partnership involves two or more individuals who share ownership responsibilities in a business. A partnership business does not have a legal identity separate from the owners of the business. A limited liability company combines the operational flexibility of a partnership with the personal asset protection that comes with operating a corporation. An LLC has a legal existence separate from its owners.
